“Time Capsule”

Having moved from Vietnam at 15. A lot of my childhood places were removed from my life. Sometimes, I would visit my old houses in Vietnam whenever I come back, and I would just stand and stare at it, reminiscing about all the good time. Time is such a weird concept, and growing up feels incredible disorienting at time. When you look at something you have so much memory with, and it doesn’t feel too long ago, but in “reality” decades had past. Suối Tiên theme park is a place that hold so much of my happy memory as a child. It was a popular land and water theme park located in Ho Chi Minh city far away from my hometown. So whenever I got the chance to visit, it was always a real treat.
This visit to Suoi Tien this year when I’m 27 years old was originally a joke between me and my colleges. He also wanted to visit to watch a certain play that get performed as a joke. I immediately agree because it had been 20+ years for me as well since my last visit. Stepping foot into the place, so much memories just came pouring in. The places I used to pass as a kid, I’m now again passing them, but me as a person had changed tremendously. It’s a feeling that is hard to describe. As there are new things being added to the place, a lot of the old attraction are still the same. We visited on a day that barely had anyone, so we almost had an entire place to ourselves. At some point we came across some workers that was sleeping as there was no customers. They definitely was annoyed that they had to wake up and operate the place because we visited.

This page of my Cinediary was focus on that child like feeling and the innocent of my childhood. Now that I’m older, the place definitely became less magical and special. However, it’s still a nice theme park even for adults to visit and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
